Guidelines for Successful Music Lessons
Payments are due your first lesson of
every month. Fees will be prorated if your lessons start in the middle of the month. Monthly fees do not change
even when there are five lessons in a given month, or three lessons during major holiday months such as Christmas,
Thanksgiving, 4th of July, Memorial Day or Labor Day.
Rescheduling a lesson due to any reason is acceptable provided it is done
within 48 hours but a one-week or more notice is preferred. Any lesson cancelled on the part of the instructor
due to illness or unforeseen circumstances will be rescheduled or credited.
Lessons will be conducted in a timely manner. Music and creativity have
little concept of time so your lesson may run a few minutes over your time or end a few minutes early. If for any
reason your feel you are not getting the proper amount of lesson time, or if we are keeping you from another appointment,
please make us aware so that we can accommodate your needs.
Practice is mandatory. Practice what you are taught. Repetition results
in faster learning. Practice 30 minutes a day 5 days a week. Practice your assigned lessons and experiment with
new sounds. Have fun with the sounds you are creating. You are expected to keep a practice record, a record of
the time spent practicing, and the days you practice.
Music is part brain-power and part feeling. Think and learn. Also, let yourself
go into the musical world, beyond your senses and into the flow and feeling of music. Music is as much heart as
it is head. Music will help you develop your own thinking skills as well as good feelings about yourself.
Parents: Take a little time to listen to your child practice. Remind them
to practice. Music is fun and enjoyable, and it takes discipline to enhance the experience. Discipline usually
doesn't come naturally and must be taught.
