| 4 Wk Series Preventing Incontinence Someone with an overactive bladder or a weak bladder will benefit from this four week class series. If you complain of a problem with involuntary loss of urine associated with a strong desire to urinate I will offer you some dietary suggestions, a few herbal remedies and ask you to fill out a Bladder Diary Record for three days documenting the leakages and frequencies of urination. I will also ask you to fill out a Daily Food Diary and look at your dietary eating habits for one week. After the first week I will make suggestions to your eating habits and encourage the implementation for two weeks. For the entire four-week program I will suggest some relaxation techniques. At the end of this period I will ask you to fill out the log sheet for three days documenting your frequencies of urination. If there is no improvement and you still fear leakage with a strong desire to urinate I will recommend you to a physician who could diagnose what type of problem you may have, suggesting you ask the doctor for a test called a urodynamic test. If you complain of involuntary loss of urine with coughing, laughing, straining or jumping related to a weak bladder then I will ask you to fill out a Bladder Diary Record for three days documenting your frequencies of urination and any leakages. My prescription that I will offer will include pelvic floor lifts and several certain yoga poses with the root lock engaged. I will suggest you see me three times within this four-week class period. A few exercises will be taught to you at the first class with a thorough understanding of incontinence. Some more will be taught at the second class. During this second class I will make sure the exercises are understood. More may be added during the third class. I give a complete overview of the routine I offer as a preventative measure against urinary incontinence. During the last class we will review the entire routine and I will recommend you practice all the exercises two times a day. Every two weeks I will want see you privately and watch you do your exercises, answer any questions and offer suggestions to improve your involvement in preventing incontinence. When six weeks have passed I will ask you to fill out a Bladder Diary Record again for three days documenting your frequencies of urination and hopefully no more leakages. At the end of the three days I will evaluate it to the first log, ask you if you've noticed any improvement and encourage you to continue the exercise routine for another two months and then you could come see me again if you felt the need. I will ask you to please document for 3 days how many times you have leakage of urination, how many times did you feel you had an urgent need to use the restroom, how frequent did you use the restroom and how much water or liquid did you drink in that given day. I will ask you to fill out a Bladder Diary Record This is what to expect during the four week series.
